Karen Von Hollen

Von+Hollen-2

director of operations

Karen grew up in Shawnigan Lake, B.C., playing a wide variety of sports. Her main sport being boys’ ice hockey where she also helped coach and medalled with the Vancouver Island female ice hockey team at the BC Winter Games.

With a business management background, Karen has worked in the hospitality industry, government, and private sectors in community relations, administration, and computer services. Throughout her provincial relocations, she gave back to communities through a variety of volunteer opportunities.

Having three boys brought about a new opportunity of owning and operating a small farm in the Interior, ranch handing for an 80 head cattle operation, and experiencing sports through her kids’ eyes. Through a hockey friend, Karen’s boys were introduced to lacrosse in Kamloops.

With an immediate passion for the Medicine Game, Karen transitioned from her roles in hockey, elementary schools, and coaching, over to minor lacrosse to help the overall growth, sport accessibility and education. She volunteered with Kamloops Minor Lacrosse as Scheduler and 1st Vice-President; joined the Kamloops Ladies of Lacrosse; became the Zone 2 Representative for the Thompson Okanagan Minor Box Lacrosse Commission and British Columbia Lacrosse Association’s Minor Directorate. Karen was the Zone 2 Representative for the 2018 BC Summer Games Boys Field Lacrosse team, and was working on the 2020 Zone 2 Box Lacrosse Boys team when it was cancelled. She became an ISPARC Honour Your Health Challenge Leader, and a Box Lacrosse Sport Committee member for the 2023 North American Indigenous Games. Karen received the BCLA’s President’s Award in 2018 and BCLA’s Spirit Champion Award in 2021.

Karen’s oldest son participated on Team BC’s field and box teams, opening the door to Fusion West Lacrosse programs and the Fusion Spirit Foundation which Karen took an interest in helping with. Her oldest and middle son played for Fusion’s Bantam USBOXLA team in 2021 winning gold.

I am honoured and humbled to have this amazing opportunity to work for Fusion West Lacrosse. I greatly respect Kevin Crowley’s vision and continued drive to create an atmosphere dedicated to family programing and that every child should be able to play The Creator’s Game of lacrosse. Kevin’s superior dedication, passion, inclusivity, equality, coaching and coaching staff, create the ‘Fusion family’ which I am excited to be a part of.
