LACROSSE FOR SCHOOLS

Fusion West’s Lacrosse For Schools program is designed to engage young students in the game of lacrosse and teach the Indigenous history of the sport.

Our goal is to foster a love of the sport through gym class lacrosse sessions in hopes of boosting local organization registration numbers. Fusion provides the coaches and equipment for each class and follows a proven curriculum to make sure each student is learning the sport in a safe, fun, and inclusive environment.

We have since had programs in over 50 elementary across BC; including the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley, Vancouver Island and Thompson Okanagan.

"Ten-Broeck in Abbotsford BC was blown away by the instructor Alex and his ability to motivate and encourage students to be fully engaged in all of the activities.

Alex was amazing with the students and adapted activities to age related. We liked Alex’s relationship with students and his calmness.

Most students have not had lacrosse lessons before and a lot of schools do not have the equipment."

"Thank you Fusion West Lacrosse and Build Fitness. What an amazing opportunity for the kids. Staff highly enjoyed sitting back, watching and learning! The kids were engaged and had so much fun.

The kids loved Coach Quinn and she was great with the kids; teaching the basics, talking about the history of lacrosse and making it fun!

Without grants and opportunities like these a lot of schools would not be able to experience things like this so thank you from all of us at West Heights Elementary."

"I would like to extend a hearty thank you to the Lacrosse For Schools program grant and it's sponsors.

I have heard feedback both from staff and students that it was both well run and a lot of fun. I overheard some of our students mention that they were planning on attending the local Lacrosse team practice that we host in our school.

I hope that it has supported the growth of Lacrosse in Salmon Arm."

"Was a superbly ran program by Coach Quinn. The kids loved it and there was clear progression from the first session on Monday until the final session on Friday. Coaching the key skills early in the week allowed them to play games by the end of the week and implement these skills in a fun and safe way. I would highly recommend this to any school... I appreciated the cultural link to the indigenous people and Coach Quinn was excellent in her student engagement and coaching."
